Obituary for Robert Buren McKinnon

Robert  Buren   McKinnon
Robert “Bobby” Buren McKinnon, age 90 of Erin, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Houston County Community Hospital.
A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Erin United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
The McKinnon family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday morning at the church. Masonic funeral rites will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Nave Funeral Home.
Bobby entered this life on February 5, 1927 in Clarksville, TN, son to the late V.B. and Eve Stoltz McKinnon. Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was a WWII veteran. Bobby was named county historian and is the past president of the Houston County Historical Society. Bobby was an avid historian for his family and Houston County. Bobby was presented the 2016 Houston County Volunteer of the Year Award, and was a lifelong member of Erin Untied Methodist Church where he served as trustee. Bobby was also a proud 62 year member of the Masonic Wisdom Lodge #300, and was a 32nd degree mason, Knights Templar.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Eve “Betsy” McKinnon, and son, Robert Thomas McKinnon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Bettye McKinnon; children, Melinda (Pete) Wiens, Richard (Kathy) McKinnon, Leigh Ann Marshall, Janie (Neal) Dixon, Rob McKinnon; sisters, Betty Shuff, and Marjorie Mcmillan. Bobby also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and 2 step great-great grandchildren.
