Obituary for John Thomas Knight
Mr. John Thomas (J.T.) Knight, age 93, joined many family members and friends in the presence of God on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with Thee, Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass...
Given to the loving care of Eric Grady and Alice McElroy Knight, J.T. entered this life on October 18, 1922, in Guthrie, KY. He grew up in Erin, TN, with his brothers and sister; Eldred, James, and Elizabeth. All preceded him in death.
A proud WWII veteran, J.T. served his country as a pilot in the United States Navy. As a young Ensign, he met his wife, the late Dorothy Sloan Knight in Shawnee, OK, which remained home to them and their two daughters for many years.
J.T was a faithful member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, lovingly handmade Christmas toys for children in need, and enjoyed a daily round of golf.
Survivors include daughters Brenda Grant and Tresa Syfert, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Operation Christmas Child.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Thomas Terry Knight Cemetery in Erin, TN, with full military honors.
