Obituary for Roland Ray Smith
Roland Ray Smith, age 69, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at his home in Erin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Moody and Dennis Pulley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The Smith family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Roland entered into this life on May 15, 1946 in Tennessee Ridge, son to the late Thomas and Elsie Parker Smith. He was retired from DuPont and a member of the church family at Erin Baptist Church. He was also was a member of the Ridge Runners.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Hickerson Smith of Erin; children Roland Smith II and Amy Rye; brother, Slayden Smith; and sisters, Syble Patterson and Gale Kuykendall. He was the loving grandfather to six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, David Smith, Eric Fish, Bill Fish, Lance Uffleman, and Kerry Powell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be fellow members of the Ridge Runners and Deacons of Erin Baptist Church.
