Bessie Louise Smith Bowers, age 93 of Clarksville, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Kail officiating. Burial will follow at Blooming Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Bessie was born on May 24, 1921 in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late James Reynolds Smith and Johnnie Shrader Smith. She was retired from Montgomery Ward Company and was a member of Crossland Avenue Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Bowers; daughter, Joyce E. Allen; brother, Garner Smith; sisters, Izorah Bowers and Ester McCormack.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne R. Bowers and wife Donna, and Harold G. Bowers; brother, Norman Smith; sister, Ceclia Bowles; granddaughter, Melanie M. Yarbrough; great-grandchildren, Matthew C. Yarbrough, Carsyn J. Yarbrough, and Caitlin M. Yarbrough.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Harrison, Kevin Harrison, Chris Yarbrough, Tommy Bowles, Terry Bowles, and Freddie Bowles.
