Katherine Ann Rye Schmidt passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home in Tennessee Ridge, TN, after an extended illness.
A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Tennessee Ridge Baptist Church with Pastors Dennis Kirk and Charles Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Schmidt family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Friday afternoon.
Katherine was born on August 14, 1941 in Erin, TN to Buford and Louise Nichols Rye. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Louis Schmidt and their three children, Gary (Connie) Schmidt of Richfield, WI, Terri (Greg) Jenkins of Clarksville, TN, and Bradley (Deanna) Schmidt of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Dante Schmidt Kayla Schmidt, Ciara Jenkins, and Chris (Alyssa) Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Oliver Jude Young and Ella Grace Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by siblings, Anita (Travis) Wyatt and Ricky (Teena) Rye. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bonnie (J.C.) Clark, Gerald Rye, and Marvin (Frankie) Rye.
Katherine was a member of Tennessee Ridge Baptist Church and a faithful Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was faithful in prayer and understood its great importance. Being legally blind, she was a stay at home wife and mother who had a tremendous impact on many lives. She never let her disability stop her and even owned her own business for a number of years. She was well loved by family, extended family and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dante Schmidt, Chris Jenkins, Luke Wyatt, Derick Hughes, Tony Clark, Thomas Stevens, Dylan Carfi, and Nathan Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Clark, Johnny Clark, Joey Clark, Randy Bryant, and Leslie Lewis.
